Course Description

This course focuses on the ethical issues pertaining to applied behavior analysis and their application to clinical practice and research within our field. Students watch weekly lecture videos, participate in the group discussions (via Gauchospace), and take weekly quizzes. As part of this course, students are also expected to read, evaluate, and interpret current behavioral research articles that are posted on Gauchospace.

Week 7: Special Education and Applicable Law

Week 8: HIPPA/FERPA Regulations

Week 9: Review Punishment and Risk-Benefit Assessment

Week 10: Collaboration and Cultural Considerations

Learner Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will learn how to: 

  • Adhere to QABA’s ethical standards
  • Follow HIPPA guidelines
  • Provide ethical and humane services to clients
  • Follow lawful and ethical guidelines of governing agencies
  • Facilitate on-going supervision
  • Practice within one’s area of expertise
  • Conduct ethical studies following human subjects protocol.
