Course Description

Especially in the face of growing societal and environmental challenges, investors are increasingly asking how they can direct their investment dollars to impact positive change.  This course balances theory with actual case studies to show how profit incentives may be combined with social consciousness for a win-win outcome. Students will come away informed, inspired, and well-equipped to pursue a lifetime of championing social causes.

Learner Outcomes

  • Understand how “conscience investing” can be incorporated into portfolio construction
  • Differentiate the various forms especially Socially Responsible Investing versus Impact Investing
  • Evaluate the trade-offs that may exist between investment impact, risk, and reward

Prerequisites

To enroll in Strategic Investments elective courses, students must have completed ECON X499.1, ECON X499.2, and ECON X499.4 with a grade C or better.
