Course Description

This course is for LVUSD employees only.

In this course, you will learn hands-on techniques and tools for incorporating the arts to enrich, heal, and reenergize your work, curriculum, and personal wellness. You will learn how the arts can be easily integrated to bring about depth in understanding, problem-solving, connection making, and focus. We are in a time when students experience all types of trauma and stress. The arts have been known to be a vehicle for healing and self-expression. The course will consist of 4 in class sessions - (2 in June and 2 in August) as well as an independent study with online support in between.

Course Outline

To provide techniques, methodologies, and instruction in working with students to heal trauma, increase focus, and accommodate a variety of learning styles; as well as providing teachers with tools to help them find balance, de-stress, and invigorate their own lives and work.

Learner Outcomes

Students will be able to integrate the creative process into their regular curriculum at least 3 times per week by developing lesson plans, teaching methodologies, and classroom procedures that encourage the use of the arts.
