Course Description

This course will focus on mastery-based grading. We’ll explore the purpose and reasons for a mastery-based grading protocol, how to implement mastery-based grading in the 21st Century classroom, and how to break existing habits of assessment to create greater efficiency of grading practice for teachers, and more comprehensive feedback for students.

Learner Outcomes

The goal of this course is for students to understand the purpose, rationale, and research behind mastery-based grading, how to develop a mindset of mastery, and how to reshape and redesign assessment and assessment systems for a mastery-based grading protocol. Students will be able to implement mastery-based grading in their classrooms upon completion of this class.
