BUSAD X409.66 - Marketing Internship
Course Description
Designed for students who have completed the core required courses in the Marketing Professional Certificate Program, this course provides an opportunity to gain experience and practice in applying skills in an appropriate business setting while under the supervision of a qualified marketing professional. Students who are able to secure an internship position with a participating sponsor may apply and complete this internship course for elective units. Students are expected to complete a work journal, keep accurate time records, and evaluate the experience. While it is possible for students to complete an internship with their present employer, internship duties must be substantially different from the student's paid duties.
Prerequisites
Students must successfully complete the following courses before enrolling in BUSAD X409.66 – Marketing Internship:
- BUSAD X409.65 – Marketing Principles & Practices
- MGMNT X477 – Developing a Digital Marketing Strategy
- MGMNT X477.1 – Web Analytics for Marketing
Enrollment also requires prior approval of a proposed internship. Students must submit the Marketing Internship Course Application and receive approval before registering for the course.
Notes
Enrollment in BUSAD X409.66 – Marketing Internship requires prior approval from the Marketing Program. Students are responsible for identifying and securing an appropriate internship opportunity.
Before registering, students must submit the Marketing Internship Course Application for review. The proposed internship site, supervisor, and duties must be approved before the student may enroll and begin counting internship hours toward the course requirement.
The internship requires a minimum of 100 hours of substantive marketing and/or communications work during the academic term. The internship employer/sponsor must also complete the required sponsor approval documentation.
BUSAD X409.66 is available throughout the year, subject to approval of the proposed internship arrangement.
