Course Description

This course engages secondary science teachers in scientific research and collaboration for the purpose of creating and introducing investigative science activities to their students and to their teaching colleagues. During this course, teachers work on a six-week research project under the supervision of a Materials Research Laboratory faculty member. Participants work with other teachers and mentors to assess their progress and identify ideas and techniques to introduce to their junior high and high school science students. Topics include:

  • Research design and investigation
  • The current focus of ongoing research
  • Classroom research projects
  • Design of pilot projects
  • Publication and presentation of research data and findings

Notes

California Credential secondary science or science teaching experience. Selected through the screening application process by Materials Research Laboratory (MRL).
