Course Description

This course presents strategies for teachers to develop interest, knowledge, and skills in children in the study of the mysteries of life through biology and the development of language. Participants learn how to guide children, in constructing the 'big picture' of the universe and in their role as responsibles stewards for sustaining life on planet earth. Scientific principles are explored through experiments, impressionistic charts, and stories that stimulate the imagination and enhance critical thinking and creative expression. Methods are presented that are designed to enrich language and vocabulary in the context of the history of mankind and the natural world with an emphasis on culturally acceptable communication. Participants explore writing, functions or words, phonetics and intonation, morphology, etymology, syntax, reading analysis as well as quality literature.
