Course Description

Designed for students who have completed the required courses in the Sports Management Certificate Program, this capstone course serves as the culminating academic and professional experience of the program. Students integrate knowledge from sport management foundations, law and ethics, and financial management to complete a comprehensive applied project or research study addressing a real-world issue in the sport industry. In addition to project development, students engage with industry professionals through guest lectures, panel discussions, and networking opportunities that expose them to career pathways across collegiate, amateur, and professional sport organizations. This course provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate applied knowledge, professional judgment, and communication skills necessary for entry-level and early-career roles in sport management.

Learner Outcomes

1. Develop and present a comprehensive applied project or research study that demonstrates professional-level analysis, organization, and communication.


2. Evaluate career pathways and professional expectations within collegiate, amateur, and professional sport settings through engagement with industry practitioners.
