Course Description

This course introduces students to the systems and technologies used to manage accounting information in today’s digital business environment. Emphasis is placed on understanding how integrated platforms support financial operations, reporting, compliance, and decision-making. Students will explore topics such as internal controls, automation, cybersecurity, and the ethical use of financial data. The course also provides an overview of emerging technologies—including artificial intelligence and blockchain—and their impact on accounting workflows and system design.

Learner Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

- Navigate cloud-based ERP platforms (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks) to perform core accounting functions

-Integrate accounting software with enterprise systems to support compliance and reporting 

-Use automation tools (e.g., RPA) to streamline accounting workflows

-Identify cybersecurity risks and apply internal controls within AIS

-Describe the impact of AI, blockchain, and automation on accounting systems and processes
