Course Description

This course provides in-depth coverage of the theory and practice of the attest role of the accountant. Both auditing and other areas of attest will be addressed. The class will provide comprehensive coverage of the entire audit process including engagement planning, audit sampling, audit evidence and the role of technology in audit. The class will also provide coverage of the role and procedures of internal audit. The course is part of a group of four courses that together will provide broad exposure to professional aspects of accounting that are not covered in a traditional college accounting curriculum. The objective is to complete a student’s professional preparation for entry into public accounting. Taken together, the four courses in the sequence will also cover topics included in the CPA examination. The course assumes prior knowledge of accounting at a college level.
