There is a growing need for well-trained certified professionals in the field of applied behavior analysis (ABA). Our program is perfect for individuals who seek to make positive changes in individuals’ lives through the implementation and dissemination of ABA practices. 

By the end of our program, students will be able to:

  • Understand the concepts and principles of applied behavior analysis
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments and related behavior assessments
  • Understand the fundamental elements of behavior change & specific behavior change procedures
  • Identify client needs and design an appropriate evidence-based program
  • Identify the correct method for evaluating behavioral progress through the use of single-case design
  • Collect, graph, and analyze behavior data
  • Understand and adhere to BACB®’s ethical code of conduct
  • Design an appropriate supervision program

The Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) has verified the course sequence for University of California Santa Barbara Extension/PaCE as meeting the 5th Edition requirements per BACB

Requirements

Students must already have obtained a graduate degree (i.e., Master’s degree or higher) in any field OR are concurrently earning a graduate degree.

To complete this program, candidates must complete all 7 courses with letter grades of “C” or better AND pass ED X309D.5 ABA Competency Course. For information about the BCBA Examination and requirements, click here.

In order for students to become a board certified behavior analyst, you must complete 315 coursework hours, request coursework attestation, accrue 2000 supervised fieldwork hours, and pass the exam administered by BACB.
