Course Description

Whole-Teacher EclecticCon 2020 is a five-day, online professional development event where elementary teachers engage in training on a wide range of topics. Sessions are aimed to meet teachers where they are (literally & figuratively) to help them implement rigorous, innovative, and standards-based lessons. The session list reflects our belief that great teaching is so much more than academic content areas, and offers training that will benefit teachers whether they will be returning to the classroom or distance learning this fall.
Throughout the conference, teachers gain access to video training as well as live panels and interviews with the presenters and special guests. Attendees will have multiple opportunities to interact with presenters to have their questions answered and to engage in discussion. In addition, participants will receive over $125 in teaching resources.

Topics include:

Best practices, tips & tricks for all academic content areas (grades 3-5)
Culturally responsive teaching
Arts integration
Social-emotional learning
Special education
Educational technology
Avoiding burnout
Tools to help in the regular classroom and with distance learning

Learner Outcomes

For Whole-Teacher EclecticCon 2020

  • Culturally Responsive Teaching / Social-Emotional Learning

    • CRE and SEL are not stand-alone topics. We’ll cover the critical importance of using both to guide your pedagogy and connect with students’ experiences to drive authentic learning.

  • Distance Learning

    • Distance learning is its own art form. We’ll provide guidance on parent communication, building community, keeping students engaged, and choosing the right tech tools for each goal.

  • Academic Content Areas

    • We’ll cover best practices for the core content areas: math, ELA, science & social studies using a variety of tools for in-class and for distance learning, with an emphasis on creating rigorous, standards-based lessons.

  • Arts Integration

    • Arts integration can be made seamless. We’ll cover adding in visual arts, music, and theater to academic content areas to enhance student engagement, expression, and learning.
