Course Description

Participants study the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics, become familiar with the progressions within the content domains found there and understand the Standards for Mathematical Practice.  They develop effective teaching strategies for engaging K-6 students in problem solving, sense making, collaboration and dialogue.  Participants understand how to provide access for all students to have high-quality, demanding math instruction.  They also participate in mathematics lessons intended to give them an experience as a math learner and provide advanced math content knowledge appropriate for elementary math teachers.

Learner Outcomes

Participants will be able to develop and deliver high-quality mathematics lessons that engage K-6 students in the Standards for Mathematical Practice in order to demonstrate the knowledge and skills required of teachers under the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics.

Consent of Instructor.
