Course Description

This course provides teachers with strategies that are aimed to develop insights, skills and knowledge in children for an in-depth study of the universe and life as experienced throughout history and geography. Participants learn how to guide children, ages six to nine, in constructing the 'big picture' of the universe and their role as responsible stewards for sustaining life on earth. Through scientific research and concrete experiences, the laws of the universe and world cultures and civilizations are explored. Emphasis is on curriculum development that prepares children to broaden their understanding, appreciation, tolerance, and interrelationships of mankind and to create a more sustainable, peaceful world.
