Course Description

This course is designed to provide teachers with strategies that help children, ages four to seven, develop their interest, knowledge, and skills in language arts and mathematics. Topics include: Math (e.g., individual exercises in operations, multiplication and division tables, factors and multiples, operations – representational level, and fractions), and Reading (e.g., primary grammar, noun, adjective, verb, and non-phonetic work with parts of speech).

B. Knowledge of the developmental sequence of math conceptualization in young children
C.  Mastery of the use of Montessori math materials
D.  Ability to list the objectives of the math curriculum for young children
E.   Ability to present a lesson for any of the given math objectives for young children
F.  Understanding of how children learn to read and write in English
G.  Mastery of the use of Montessori reading materials
H.   Ability to make quality reading materials suitable for young children
I.    Ability to select quality reading materials appropriate for young children
J.    Ability to list the objectives of a reading curriculum for young children
K.   Ability to present a lesson for any of the given reading objectives for young children
