Course Description

Open University Winter 2026 pre-enrollment will begin on December 22, 2025 and will close at 4pm on January 2, 2026. 

Join thousands of students at a world-class research university! By enrolling in Open University (OU), you can take UCSB courses without a formal admission at UCSB. Enrollment in a specific course depends on space availability, but you will have access to the entire UCSB catalog, providing you meet the requirements.

All you need to do to start the process is to enroll in this course once it is open for enrollment for the quarter you intend to take UCSB academic courses via Open University. Pre-enrollment is required for each quarter Open University is offered. You can find a quick summary of the dates and fees here.  Please note that if you fail to pre-enroll by the date posted, you will not be eligible to seek enrollment via Open University. You will need to wait until the following available quarter.

Once you have completed pre-enrollment (the $25 Enrollment Fee is non-refundable), you will receive an email from our Customer Success Team with instructions on the steps you need to complete before you can proceed with the Open University enrollment process.
